The Made in California certification mark is created for the distinct and unique purpose of promoting the Made in California marketing & labeling program created by statute for the State of California. The program is administered on behalf of the state by the California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA) within the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz). The Made in California program promotes awareness of California’s ranking as the leading state for manufacturing jobs and firms. The program is open to all manufacturers in California whose products meet the eligibility requirement of being at least 51% “Substantially Made” in California, meaning that at least 51% of the product’s total wholesale value derives from manufacturing, assembly, fabrication, or production occurring in California to create a recognizable product. The mark is used by CalOSBA and GO-Biz to promote awareness of the Made in California labeling program. This will include its use on the official website, madeincalifornia,ca.gov; in physical marketing collateral including signs and banners; in promotional videos; and other promotional materials and artifacts. The mark will also be used by individual businesses that meet eligibility requirements and have signed a licensing agreement with CalOSBA for its use. Such uses could include placement on the manufactured products; on product packaging; on websites; in social media posts; on physical marketing collateral such as signs, banners and pamphlets; in promotional videos, and in other marketing materials.
