STAHL Stigma Takes Away Hope an Life promotes education to eliminate the stigmas associated with people who have an addiction to alcohol or other drugs. This education includes the families of the addicts who suffer from the stigma as well. We do this by inviting the public to events where they can hear someone who shares their recocery story whethwe it many be the person who is the addict or to hear the recovery story of a family member who was the "non drinker" but suffered the effects and family distruction of someone's drinking or drugging. The accurate medical name for alcoholics is Alcohol Use Disorder or for those with an addiction to other than alcohol Substance Use Disorder. Both are medical descriptions for these family diseases of addiction. We share are own experience strength and hope as members of the recovery community that alcohol or other drug addiction is not a matter of choice and why that is true
