The mark consists of a white patch in the shape of a Maltese cross outlined in a thin black line, thick red line, and a thin yellow line; with capitalized words in red lettering in each of the prongs of the cross with "CAPITAL CITY" in bold at the top of the cross, "FIRE/RESCUE" in bold at the bottom of the cross, "JUNEAU" on the left, "ALASKA" on the right; the center portion of the patch is encircled by a white rope outlined in red; inside the circle created by the rope is a highly stylized mountain scene engulfed in flames as follows: a green double overlapping triangle mountain with a floating five pointed white star outlined in red to the right with both superimposed over yellow flames outlined in red where the yellow fades to pale yellow from top to bottom and where the flames rise from a long blue rectangular shape drawn with straight lines on the sides and bottom and with a wavy line at top to indicate open water.
