The mark consists of a burgundy number "4". At the center of the number "4" is a green drill instructor's hat, with an eagle perched atop a globe and an anchor and anchor line behind the globe, in faded shades of grey and black. The outer portions of the indentations near the upper part of the hat also have faded shades of grey and black. The green hat has a black and brown strap at its base, with a yellow and black buckle. Behind the green hat are two crossed swords, in white bordered in black, the left sword with a yellow and black hilt, with a black thin-line cross on the hilt, and two yellow dots bordered in grey, and the right sword with a yellow handle with grey lines. The right sword also has a thin grey line extending down the sword. Hanging from a thin grey outlined circle on the top of the left sword is a black cord. Beneath the green hat is a white banner outlined in grey with the words "FOURTH RECRUIT TRAINING BATTALION" in black.
