The mark consists of a rectangular plaque inside which is a rectangle consisting of three smaller stacked rectangles; inside the thin middle rectangle is a centered horizontal line. On top of the plaque are overlapping rectangles arranged in four tiers. From back to front, the first tier is the tallest and thickest rectangle and is centered, the second tier contains two shorter, thinner rectangles that overlap the outer edges of the first tier, the third tier contains two shorter, thicker rectangles that overlap the outer edges of the second tier, and the fourth tier contains two shorter, thicker rectangles that overlap the outer edges of the third tier. The fourth tier rectangles contain 6 vertical lines of differing lengths in the outer bottom corner. The third tier rectangles contain 7 vertical lines of differing lengths in the outer bottom corner. The second tier rectangles contain 5 vertical lines of differing lengths in the outer bottom corner and the top rectangle contains 6 vertical lines of differing lengths in its outer bottom corners. Hanging below the plaque is a row of four rectangles that touch on the sides; the two on the left each contain three vertical lines of differing length in the top left corner and the two on the right each contain three vertical lines of differing length in the top right corner. Hanging below those rectangles is a second row of four longer, thinner rectangles that touch on the sides. The wording "NEW YORKER" shown in broken lines inside the plaque serves only to show placement of wording and is not a feature of the mark.
