The mark consists of a blue oval overlaid at the oval's upper left half with an outline of an obelisk/monument with a blue left side and a white right side and a domed capital building with a blue left side and a white right side, and at the oval's lower right half with a curved obtuse triangle sweeping left to right, the triangle having a blue core with a white border, with a single curved red crescent line bisecting the blue oval from an 8 o'clock position to 1 o'clock position, and single red outer line circumscribing the oval clockwise from the 8 o'clock position to the 1 o'clock position and the outer line having an airplane shaped arrow at its terminus. The term "METROPOLITAN WASHINGTON AIRPORTS AUTHORITY" appears in blue to the right of the design.
