The mark consists of a round design, bordered by a gold-colored roping around the perimeter. Within this perimeter is another thin gold band, and inside that a black band that includes the words "UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS" in alternating patterns of the colors white and grey used to suggest a reflection of light. Within that band is another thin gold band, which borders a red circular field. Within that red field is a design consisting of an eagle, perched atop a globe, with an anchor behind the globe; the top and bottom of the anchor, with the anchor rope, are visible. The eagle and anchor and the land masses on the globe are in gold, and the ocean is in white. The anchor rope is white. In the eagle's mouth is held a white banner, with the words "SEMPER FIDELIS" in the color gold.
