The term Greatest 50 will identify a high school athlete or team, one for each of the 50 states. This athlete will be voted the greatest athlete in their state via an interactive annual national program. This program will launch with football in the fall of 2013. The process for the nominations will include athletes? names being chosen based on various criteria including, USA Today lists of ALL-USA players, Gatorade State Football Players of the Year and State record holders in the following categories: passing yards, passing touchdowns, rushing touchdowns, rushing yards, receptions, receiving yards, receiving touchdowns, interceptions, sacks and tackles. In addition, athletic directors nationwide will be invited to submit 2 nominees via an online portal. A website will be set up listing the nominees by state. Voting will open to the public at a later date, and people will be able to vote for the Greatest 50 athlete, one from each state. After football, it is intended to follow the same pattern for other sports - all focused on the high school level
