The certification mark, as intended to be used by authorized persons, is intended to certify that if company produces goods that the company: is American owned and operated; if involved in manufacturing or construction, its products are fabricated, assembled, erected and produced primarily, more than 50 percent, in America; if a leisure or hospitality related company, it participates in programs designed to promote American tourism; if involved in a wholesale or retail industry, it supports other community businesses by Buying Locally, Buying Responsibly and Buying American; it is actively engaged in some form of energy conservation, water conservation and/or recycling program within its place of business and supports ongoing employee- educational programs related thereto; it is headquartered in the United States; its executive, sales, service, support and manufacturing organizations are located in the United States; it sources at least 51 percent of the materials used by its business and/or in our goods and products from American-owned and/or U.S.-based companies; its goods and products do not contain any harmful materials; it has active programs in place for sustainable manufacturing and production and/or recycling; it actively educates its employees as to the benefits and importance of sustainability in the workplace and at home; and it actively supports nonprofit and community organizations with monetary or in- kind donations and/or volunteer staffing. The certification mark is intended to be used by authorized persons and is intended to certify that if a company provides services that the company: is American owned and operated; if involved in the restaurant and/or food service industries, it supports sustainable family-farm agriculture by offering customers choices that include locally grown, healthy foods produced without the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, growth hormones or antibiotics; if a leisure or hospitality related company, it participates in programs designed to promote American tourism; if involved in a wholesale or retail industry, it supports other community businesses by Buying Locally, Buying Responsibly and Buying American; it is actively engaged in some form of energy conservation, water conservation and/or recycling program within its place of business and supports ongoing employee- educational programs related thereto; it is headquartered in the United States; its executive, sales, service and support organizations are located in the United States; it sources at least 51 percent of the materials used by its business from American-owned and/or U.S.-based companies; it has active programs in place for recycling; it actively educates its employees as to the benefits and importance of sustainability in the workplace and at home; and it actively supports nonprofit and community organizations with monetary or in- kind donations and/or volunteer staffing.
