The mark consists of two hexagons, one positioned inside the other, with the wording "The American College of Psychiatrists" in the top portion of the space between the hexagons and the wording "May 8 1963" in the bottom portion of the space between the hexagons. Inside the interior hexagon is a crest containing a globe, two birds, and a serpent figure. The globe contains both continents and meridians and parallels. The globe is positioned at the bottom of the crest, with the serpent figure extending upward from the top portion of the globe and one bird positioned on either side of the serpent above the globe within the crest. Above the crest within the interior hexagon is a lamp with smoke extending upward from the left side.
