The mark consists of an image with a male person holding an historical beer mug, the wording "HERTOG JAN" in a label, and two medallions and a wax seal. The bearded male person appears in flesh tone wears a gold and red crown, a white fur cloak with black dots, and is situated above the dark brown colored label. Under the cloak he wears a red blouse and in his right hand he holds an historical silver beer mug with white froth. The wording "HERTOG JAN" is written in white and in a gothic script, and is placed on the label between two light brown horizontal lines. The label is placed in the middle of the drawing. Two gold medallions and a red seal appear in the dark brown area at the bottom of the drawing. The red seal resembles an old fashioned wax seal (round shaped), and includes a lion design. The first medallion in the left bottom corner contains a barrel with a hammer and wheat, and the second medallion contains the wording "NATUURZUIVER TRADITIONEEL GEBROUWEN", and an image of a brewery. The color black appears throughout the mark for outlining purposes.
