Inthe Top left corner is the Coat of Arms of Puerto Rico, which consists of a GREEN background with a WHITE Lamb and WHITE flag with a RED cross The Lamb rest in a RED Book with gold pages. The border is made up of YELLOW castles and RED lions in alternating RED and WHITE. The borders are yellow. The Latin motto, "JOANNES EST NOMEN EJUS" (a quotation from the Vulgate of Luke 1:63), means "John is his name", referring to St. John the Baptist or San Juan Bautista, the original name of the island, is embedded in BLACK letters on a WHITE ribbon. at the bottom of the top left corner.
