The largest outside circle is black with gold letters along the top: "HENNEPIN COUNTY SHERIFF" and gold letters on the bottom: "RICHARD W. STANEK". The next circle (working toward the center) is white with a black center overlaid with a five point gold star with lighter and darker gold-colored sections for highlights. Each point of the star has a circle on the end which reaches outside the black circle, across the color white, and slightly overlaps the inner edge of the first outside black circle. The third black circle is inside the gold star and has gold letters along the top: "STATE OF" and gold letters along the bottom: "MINNESOTA". The inner most circle contain a scenic symbol of the State of Minnesota: a farmer in red and beige working on green farmland and pushing a brown piece of equipment, a beige Indian on a brown and black horse, a rising gold sun with black rays, black trees, a brown tree stump with a beige hatchet and rifle, and a white pit above which there is a red banner across the top with black letters: " L'ETOILE DU NORD".
