The mark consists of a double circle design outlined in black. The outer circle is green with the white wording "US CORRECTIONS SPECIAL OPERATIONS GROUP" arched along the top of the circle. The inner circle has a black background, outlined in white. Within the center of the inner circle is a design of a stylized black eagle, outlined in white with outstretched wings behind a shield and holding a lightning bolt in its right claw and a sword in its left claw. The lightning bolt and sword are outlined in black with gray and white on the interior portions of each. The shield has three borders, one each in black, green and white. In the center if the shield is a guard tower on a hill, both in black, in front of clouds appearing in gray and green. In the bottom center half of the inner circle is a vertical green rectangle, outlined in white. Within the rectangle is the stacked white wording "UT CETERI VIVENT" and "C-SOG". At the center base of the mark in the outer circle is the white wording "SDU-1".
